How to revamp the interior of your vehicle

Whether your car is brand new or you have had it for several years, you may feel that you want to either spruce up the interior or give it a more personal or luxurious feel. There are lots of things that you can revamp in the interior of your vehicle, from the upholstery to the steering wheel and the floor to the roof.

Change your interior

To simply add some finishing touches, you can buy items such as new mats to hide existing damage or simply protect the manufacturer's flooring. Gear knob and steering wheel covers are now available in a multitude of styles, colours and material, while car seat covers come in a variety of styles that will help to prolong the life of the existing seat while adding some personality.

Door cards can be replaced with a woodgrain effect for a more luxurious feel or a metal finish for a cutting-edge, modern style; alternatively, you can refurbish the existing panels with treatments that will bring scuffed and faded plastics back to life. Vinyl wraps can also be added to interior trims and come in a wide range of colours. They can even be created in a personalised design if your budget allows.

Some manufactures sell their own branded accessories; for example, you can get Land Rover Discovery accessories from most dealers. Land Rover Discovery accessories also include items for the exterior of your vehicle, such as tyre valve caps.

If you want to take things a bit further, you could consider replacing the steering wheel or car seats entirely, perhaps replacing them with a sportier model, upgrading the material, or even adding aftermarket heated seat mats. For some larger vehicle models there are captain's seats available that give you the ability to swing the seat through 360 degrees.

You can also revamp the roof by either replacing the existing roof lining or opting for a sun roof. There is plenty of choice when it comes to sunroofs; for example, you can opt for a standard or panoramic version, tilt and slide or automatic opening option, and even choose the type of glass tint.

Go high tech

In addition to the furnishings in the car, you can bring the tech right up to date by adding electronics such as Bluetooth integration or a multimedia interface. On the dashboard, for example, you can upgrade the electronics to change the dial face colours or the backlight colour. If you are looking for additional information while you are driving, you can even add extra auxiliary aftermarket dials.

You only have to switch on the television to know that the possibilities for revamping the interior of your vehicle are endless, although some modifications are more radical than others. The opportunities to personalise your vehicle to your own exacting tastes and standards are limitless. Whether you want to make a statement with your own unique design or simply tidy up your car a little, there is plenty to choose from to get you started.
